Canadian students help social uplift
Thirteen students from the Manitoba University, Canada are
voluntarily helping build a community centre at Meegahayaya village,
Badalkumbura.
These students have also volunteered to build a Buddha statue and a
Bo-tree complex for villagers to carry out their religious activities.
"This is part of our learning and interaction activity of
architecture and landscaping course in a developing country. This year
we have selected Meegahayaya village in Badalkumbura," said Prof Kelley
Laureen Beaverford.
She said all students and two of her staff are home staying to
understand, learn Sri Lankan culture. |
