Girl in garden dies in van mishap

A van plying on the Kekirawa, Maradankadawala, Anuradhapura road ran off the road at Vanamal Uyana and ploughed into a nearby homegarden injuring a 14-year-old girl playing in the compound.

She later succumbed to her injuries on admission to the Maradankadawala hospital around noon on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Harshanee Madushika Jayatilleke. The alleged van driver taken into Police custody was due to be produced before the Kekirawa Magistrate yesterday. Kekirawa Police are investigating.
