Thai film stars on tourism promotional drive

Being on par with the Sri Sambuddhathva Jayanthi celebrations taking place in the country, a crew of popular film stars escorted by princess Mom Luang of the Thailand Royal family visited the sacred temple of the tooth at Kandy recently.

The Thai princess and the crew also had a mutually prospective discussion with Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau’s Managing Director Rumy Jauffer about promoting Sri Lanka as an attractive film destination. The crew was offered a warm hospitality by the Mahaweli Reach Hotel.

These film stars arrived in Sri Lanka last week to participate in the Sri Sambuddhathva Jayanthi film festival and to sign up initial agreements for producing the film Siddhartha - the Buddha which narrates the life and journey prince Siddhartha attaining enlightenment.

Arugambay Travels appointed agent to Indian cruise liner


CeyLine Shipping Ltd Group Director and Managing Director Capt. Nalin Peiris handing over the signed agreement to Arugambay Travels and Tours Managing Director A.M. Jaufer.

Arugambay Travels and Tours has been appointed as Passenger Agent for Amet Cruises India.

This will be the first ever luxury cruise operating from Sri Lanka. The inaugural service will commence from Colombo port on June 4, 2011 to Chennai. The regular service will operate weekly from Trincomalee to Chennai.

The luxury cruise ship has nine decks with 268 cabins can carry 750 tourists offering entertainments such as dance floor, disco, live performances, casinos, swimming pool and many more. Commencing luxury cruise travel from Sri Lanka benefit the development of the tourism industry. This will also support the Governments target of 2.5 million tourist arrivals by 2016.
