Iran, Egypt call for bolstering ties
Iran: Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and the
visiting Secretary General of Egypt's Amal Party Magdi Hussein have
called for strengthening ties between the two sides. In a meeting on
Sunday, the Iranian official stressed the necessity of solidarity among
the Egyptians and urged vigilance against the enemy plots until the
final victory, IRNA reported.
Salehi voiced Tehran's readiness to offer the Islamic Republic's
achievements to the Egyptian nation in all spheres, particularly in
technology and industry, underlining that both countries are ready to
take steps towards promoting friendly and sustainable relations.
Hussein, in his turn, lauded the Islamic Republic's achievements, saying
that the 1979 Islamic Revolution of Iran had been an inspiration for the
popular uprising in Egypt.
Earlier in the day, the Egyptian official met with the Secretary of
Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili.
"The power that has risen from the Islamic awakening promises to
obliterate global oppression and tyranny; and the will of nations will
defeat world powers," Jalili said during the meeting.
Earlier in April, Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil al-Arabi called for
normalization of ties with Iran, saying Cairo is committed to seeking to
improve long-frozen relations with Tehran.
The post-revolution Egypt looks poised to turn a new page in its
relations with the Islamic Republic as al-Arabi said his country will
witness a new phase in its ties with Iran.
