Fish stalls to be opened:
250 fish outlets islandwide

Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Ministry's main target is
providing an opportunity to have fish included in every meal of each
family. In pursuance of this, the Ministry has taken measures to open a
Ceylon Fisheries Corporation (CFC)s fish outlets in every city, said
Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr Rajitha
Senarathne.
"Under the guidance of the Fisheries Ministry, the CFC's fish stalls
network had been expanded already and fish prices had dropped by 20
percent," he said.
The Minister revealed these facts while participating at the opening
ceremonies of the new CFC fish stalls in Kelaniya and Kiribathgoda
recently.
There are a large number of customers coming to the CFC fish stalls.
these stalls earn over Rs 400,000 per day. All measures will be taken in
the near future to reduce fish prices further, Minister added.
The Fisheries Ministry has taken steps to establish 250 CFC fish
stalls islandwide and of these 100 stalls will be opened in this year.
At present 81 stalls have been opened.
These stalls are in a good condition.
They protect the freshness of fish using modern technology and all
steps had been taken to provide fresh fish to the public, he noted.

Chairman Maheel Senaratne, Vice Chairman D J Purasinghe and Managing
Director Sandaruwan Kankeshwara also participated. |
