“Sri Lanka is steering towards a rapid socio economic development
since the annihilation of LTTE terrorism.
“The onus of supporting President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his
administration to achieve goals in the Mahinda Chintana national
development programme, lie with us,” Minister of Youth Affairs and
Skills Development Dullas Alahapperuma said.
He was addressing a well attended public ceremony after having
upgraded the Urugamuwa Government Hospital to the state of a District
Hospital at Urugamuwa, in Dickwella.
Minister Alahapperuma said that the conflict had pushed back the
country’s development process by 30 years. He said that different
political ideologies should be confined during the election period only.
In view of the efficient and experienced statesmanship of President
Mahinda Rajapaksa, this government was able to persist with its national
development process even during the conflict.
According to the Mahinda Chintana, the rural infrastructural
improvement has been the focal point in ameliorating the economy in Sri
Lanka.
Accelerating improvements of the rural road network, the supply of
water and electricity facilities could be witnessed in every nook and
corner of Sri Lanka, the minister said. |
