President pays floral tribute at Bangladesh National Martyr’s
Memorial

President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is on a three day official visit to
Bangladesh paid a floral tribute at the Bangladesh National Martyr’s
Memorial in Dhaka yesterday.
The Bangladesh National Martyr’s Memorial is situated 34 kilometers
from Dhaka in Savar.
President Rajapaksa, after placing a floral tribute, planted a Mango
sapling, which is the National Tree of Bangladesh, near the statue to
mark his official visit. The President also inspected the trees planted
by former Sri Lankan Presidents J.R. Jayewardene and Chandrika
Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.
The President also met with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
yesterday.
President Rajapaksa is expected to have talks with his Bangladesh
counterpart President Zillur Rahman today. Talks will focus on
strengthening bilateral ties.
The President will visit the Bangladesh Bangabandu Museum and
International Buddhist Museum today. |
