On April 19 whole of Peradeniya will reverberate with the music of
Marians and Golden Chimes, in a whole new experience in the history of
university music. Peradeniya University Faculty of Engineering is
organizing this musical extravaganza in order to raise funds for its
Students’ Scholarship program.
With the vision of “For the betterment of future generation” the
Engineering Students’ Union of the Faculty of Engineering started this
program nine years ago, in 2002. The main objective of the Arunella
program was to provide financial support to the financially deprived
undergraduates of the faculty.
Eventually Engineering Students’ Union was able to help not only
their fellow mates but also the helpless school students from rural
areas. They conducted a series of seminar aiming the GCE O-L students
who have not had sufficient academic exposure and facilities. Moreover
they have been conducting projects such as developing libraries of rural
schools.
