Malinga calls time on World Cup career
Sri Lanka fast bowler Lasith Malinga said on
Sunday that his World Cup career is over. “I hope to be of service
to my team as long as I can, but I won’t be able to play in the next
World Cup in 2015. I have been carrying injuries for the past few
weeks and with little rest,” Malinga, 27, told state-run television.

Semi-finalists found in U-15 hockey tourney
The all-island schools boys and girls under 15
hockey tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Hockey
Association and the Matale Schools Hockey Association now in
progress at Edward Park and Bernard Aluvihare grounds has now
reached the semi-final stage which will be played this morning
commencing at 7 am.

Random thoughts on world cup finals 2011
Gavaskar’s lop-sided comments reeked of
partiality, but, then, in a pre-match interview he did have the
gumption to say, “ Murali won a gold medal when his team won the
World Cup in 1996. He should let Tendulkar have it now.” If that was
not tantamount to a request for match-fixing by a Devil’s Advocate,
it can verily be argued that manslaughter does not constitute
murder. The puerile thinking of the so named little master made me
check on his stature as a cricketer.
