January export earnings increase
Growing momentum in all sectors:
Export earnings in January marked a significant
72 percent growth accounting close to US $ 900 million compared to
the corresponding month last year. Central Bank Deputy Governor
Dharma Dheerasinghe said this is a remarkable growth for our export
earnings.

North East opens 121 new bank branches
A total of 121 new bank branches and service
centres have been set up in the Northern and Eastern provinces in
2010. In the Northern province 36 bank branches and in the Eastern
