Seven persons suspected of steeling eight buffaloes from a government farm were arrested by Kurunegala police yesterday. The suspects were arrested with the stolen buffaloes. This raid was conducted on a tip-off by a Buddhist monk. It was reported that over 1,500 milch cows, heifers, calves, bulls and buffaloes were stolen by this organised gang of cattle robbers.

The cattle thieves were rounded up by Headquarters Inspector I P Ajith Wansanatha and a team led by Kurunegala SSP Vass Gunawardena.
