Top priority for rural areas - Dullas

The government has given priority for infrastructural development even in remote rural areas, Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said.

Minister Alahapperuma was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the proposed agrarian services centre at Talalle recently. He said vast development has been made in the Matara district by the UPFA.

"Most undeveloped rural roads have been concreted under the Maga Neguma, Gama Neguma and Jathika Saviya improvement programs. Plans are afoot to provide electricity for all by 2012," he said.

The government did not allow the economy to collapse due to the LTTE war. President Mahinda Rajapaksa enhanced strengthened and further improved the public sector, the Minister said. It is the duty of all to extend the fullest support to the President, he said.
