Lankans returning from Japan :

Special unit to detect radiation

A special unit is in operation round the clock at the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Authority premises in Orugodawatte to assist returning Sri Lankans who are suspected to have exposed themselves to atmosphere contaminated with radio active substances with the blast of Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan.

According to Senior Scientist Officer and Coordinator of the Emergency Response Planning, A Jayalath this unit will assist Sri Lankans returning from Japan round the clock and they can obtain information from the unit on 0112547332. Arrangements have been made at the unit to check the radiation level carried by Sri Lankans who are suspected to have been exposed to radio active atmosphere in Japan at their request.
