Unsuccessful at O-L and A-L Examination:
Govt to implement special program
Nadira Gunatilleke
The Government is to implement a special program for the benefit of
schoolchildren who fail the Ordinary Level and Advanced Level
Examinations, Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena said.
Minister Sirisena was addressing the gathering after opening the new
auditorium and science laboratory built at Rajarata Maha Vidyalaya in
Polonnaruwa at a cost of Rs 60 million. The project had been funded by
President Mahinda Rajapaksa's 'Mahinda Chinthana - Vision for the
future' program and Rural School Development Project. He said that
attention often goes to students who pass these examinations with good
grades, but no attention was paid to students who failed their
examinations.
According to Minister Sirisena, scholarships and other facilities
should be given to students who pass these examinations, but at the same
time authorities should show concern as to why students fail
examinations. There was no need to find out the details about schools
which produce good results. We have to find out the details of schools
which produce bad results and the reason/reasons behind it.
