Mercedes Golf C'ship on April 30

Victoria Golf and Country Resort will conduct the annual Mercedes Golf Championship for men and women which will be sponsored by the local agents for Mercedes vehicles DIMO and worked off at the beautiful Victoria Golf Course at Rajawella on April 30.

A total of seven events will be worked which will be one for women and the balance six for men. This will be a single round Stableford competition played over 18 holes. All winners and the runner up of the seven events will be awarded trophies.

Thirteen of the winners and runners up qualify for the Asian Championship finals which will be held in Brisbane, Australia later this year.

This championship which is open to all owners of Mercedes vehicles will be played under the following categories:

A - Handicap between 0 to 12

B - Handicap between 13 to 20

C - Handicap between 21 to 24

For the competition for the women the handicap will be between 0 to 36. This is the second major golf championship to be held at this year following the roaring success of the recently concluded Donald Steel Golf Championship in which a very large number of foreign competitors participate.

This will be also the second time that the Mercedes Golf Championship is being held at Victoria since the year 1999 and a very large number of golfers are expected to participate.
