Postal voting ends

Postal voting for the Local Government Elections concluded without any major incident, Senior DIG for elections Gamini Navarathne said.

He said only 119 complaints were made so far from all political parties.

“The police arrested 128 people involved in election law violations and 14 candidates are among them, he added.

Public servants who were eligible for postal voting showed enthusiasm to exercise their franchise and long queues were seen in the places where postal voting took place.

He said special security arrangements were in place in an around the centres where postal voting took place.

The elections monitoring organizations also pointed out that no serous incidents were reported during postal voting process.
