Exports to record US $ 10 billion

Lanka shifting to new markets:

Sri Lanka is expected to record US $ 10 billion revenue in total exports in 2011. In 2010 all sections in export industry except one or two sections have also recorded a noteworthy 15 percent growth against 2009. Foreign exchange from total exports was recorded at US $ 8.27 billion in 2010.

Asian Alliance profit tops Rs 370 m in 2010

Asian Alliance Insurance PLC recorded a significant growth in profit before tax amounting to Rs 370.5 million in 2010. The Life division contributed Rs 253.6 million and Non Life division contributed Rs 116.9 million for this outstanding performance.

Universities must be self sufficient - Governor

Sri Lankan universities have plenty of resources and they should be able to run their organizations without expecting Treasury funds in the future. Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal who was the chief guest at the inauguration of the M.Sc in Financial Mathematics program at the Colombo University said it is only a matter of changing the mindset of people.
