CSE remains vibrant

Market capitalization tops Rs 2600 billion:

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has been a significant contributor to the economy. As at February 25 this year the market grew by 16.2 percent with the CSE All Share Price Index (ASPI) recording 7,711. 6 while an all time high market capitalization Rs 2,600.6 billion was also recorded upto February 14, the CSE said.

Less women in senior management positions

Although Sri Lankan women contribute immensely to the development of the economy the number of women in top positions such as CEOs in large companies still remains very low, UN Resident Co-ordinator’s Office Colombo, Gender Advisor Shyamala Gomez said.

Magampura proposals this week

The evaluation process of the Magampura project proposals is expected to be complete by the end of this week. The Government called for project proposals from preferred investors to set up new ventures in Magampura port area last year. “Earlier, 27 documentations have been submitted by investors to the relevant authorities for evaluation.

World sailing championship in Negombo: The final day of the series of GP-14 world sailing championship took off at the Negombo beach recently as the fleet of yachts launched with the sea breeze at the Negombo beach .The (GP14) World Cup is held in Sri Lanka for the first time in the history, which was earlier limited mostly to the European countries. With the perfect conditions of golden sandy shores and fresh breeze to magnify the yachting experience, the beaches in Sri Lanka can be seen as an ideal location for yachting enthusiasts. Contestants from ten countries including Australia, UK, South Africa, Belgium, America and Norway took part in this year’s GP -14 world sailing championship held in Sri Lanka. Both local and international participants took part in the event adding colour to the spirit of the game. The event was part of a Sri Lanka tourism promotion drive.
