Italian business delegation meets Deputy Minister

An Italian delegation headed by the Italian Embassy of Sri Lanka Deputy Mission Head Gianluca Rubagotti met the Deputy External Affairs Minister Neomal Perera last week.

Italy's Milan Province Presidency and Institutional Relations Central Director Pasquale Maria Cioffi, who is in charge of the department steering the promotion of EXPO 2015, briefed the Deputy Minister on EXPO 2015 to be held in Milan from May 1, 2011.

The theme of this exposition is 'Food and energy'.

The Italian delegation invited the External Affairs Ministry and the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce to participate in this event.

The delegation suggested to organize a Sri Lankan promotional event as a run up to the EXPO Mila 2015, and to have a special segment at the Expo to promote and highlight the country.

Developing trade agreements and business links were also discussed at the meeting an d Rubagotti said that traditional Sri Lankan lace which is of fine quality should be promoted to Italian fashion designers.
