Speed 2011 Championship’:
‘Four Motor Racing Clubs join hands

The Asian Motor Racing Club which conducted its Formula Mclarens 1300
Championship 2010 successfully held its prize distribution last Saturday
at the Speed Drome, Battaramula on a grand scale. At this ceremony the
organizers announced the new year plan for the championship to be
conducted in five stages instead of the four rounds they held last year.

The AMRC on new format has decided to add more colour to the events
joining hands with Ceylon Motor Sports Club, Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club
and Motor Racing Association in conducting this championship which also
will be considered for the national championship. The Championship will
be named as ‘Speed 2011 Championship’ will be conducted on the revamped
Pannala track.
The dates fixed for these championship meets are as follows first
round February 13, second round May 22, third round June 26, fourth
round September 18 and the final round the fifth on October 16.
Accepting of entries for the championship commenced on January 10 for
all Sri Lanka Automobile Sport approved classes including the most
popular evnts in the car category the SL-GT 3500cc and SL-H 1600cc
class. There will also be events Mini, Nisssan March, Ford Laser, Ford
Fomula 1600cc and Formula McLarens 1300cc.
Newcomers to the racing are scheduled to drive in Fomula McLarens
1300cc class while there will be the introduction of events for Suzuki
Maruti/Alto Class.
The organizers also had made arrangements to run motor Cycle events
for the benefit of the riders who are making an attempt for the national
championship in this category. All riders who compete here and the
points gained by them too will be added for their national championship
tally of points. |
