Beginners Swimming C’ships on February 5 and 6

The All Island Inter School Beginners Swimming Championships organized by the Thurstan College Aquatic Club will be worked off on February 5 and 6 at the Thurstan College Swimming Pool Complex.

This Inter School Championship has been approved by Education Ministry and it is in associated with Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union.

The objective of organizing such an event is to encourage and achieve more competitiveness in developing and popularizing swimming in the schools and stressing the importance of swimming in life in many aspects.

The speciality about this event is the beginners are given priority. Anyone who has not obtained 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in a swimming championship organized by Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union and Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Association are entitled to participate.

The tournament will be conducted in two championships for the boys and girls categories. Over 1,500 school students from Government and private schools and affiliated organizations in the island are expected to participate in this event.
