Wild Life office robbed

A group of robbers entered the Wild Life Office at Kaudulle and after
breaking the safe there took off sixty thousand rupees and a T-56 gun
and cartridges following in the another safe and fled away Saturday.
The police said the looting had taken place when the staff of the
Wild Life office had taken into custody several suspects who were
cutting timber unlawfully in the jungle.
A team of about one hundred police officers were engaged in the
operation to crack down the suspects on the instructions of Senior DIG
in the North Central Province Emantha Gamage and Polonnaruwa Senior
Superintendent of Police NC Fernando.
The Minneriya police are investigating. |
