Nabbed with tusk

A person in the Medagama area in Kekirawa was nabbed together with a
pair of tusks by the Kekirawa police on Saturday on information received
that the person was keeping the pair of tusks for sale.
Two police officers in disguise as Muslim businessmen made this
arrest of the person in possession of the pair of tusks.
The two police officers said that the person tried to sell the pair
of tusks for Rs 100,000. Although the disguised police officers
expressed their willingness to buy the tusks for Rs 90,000 the person
was firm of Rs 100,000.
Later the police officers agreed to buy it at the price he said and
when he took out the pair of tusks he was taken into custody. The person
said he took the pair of tusks from a dead tusker.
Sub Inspector L M N K Lansakara and a team of police officers made
the raid on the instructions of Chief Police Inspector Kapila Abeynaike. |
