Murder suspects arrested

The Colombo Crime Division (CCD) arrested two youths from the
Ratnapura police division yesterday, in connection with the murder of
Badrani Muditha Bandaranayake (60), wife of former Chartered Accountant
Tissa Kumara Bandaranayake.
Badrani was killed on January 12, 2011. The CCD special police team
also had recovered a laptop, mobile phone and several other items which
had been robbed from the house of Bandaranayake on the day of the
incident.
DIG Anura Senanayake said Borella police arrested the suspects within
a few days of the murder.
Investigations also revealed that same suspects had entered the
Bandaranayake home on an earlier occasion and robbed several items.
Questioned at length the suspects had told the police that they were
attempting to collect money to open a motor garage for a living.
CCD Director Ranaweera said that the suspects will be produced in
Court after recording their statements in connection with the incident. |
