Drug addict nabbed with goods haul

A burglar who stole goods worth nearly Rs five million, was arrested
by Kohuwala Police on Saturday in Kalubowila. He was remanded until
January 27 by the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court.
The Police said that the suspect was a drug addict and had robbed
goods by breaking into houses in several areas. The police had arrested
him during a raid in Kalubowila. The suspect had studied upto A-Ls in an
International school in Colombo. It was revealed that even though he was
a permanent resident in Saranankara Road, Kalubowila he had been
residing at Kiriwaththuduwa in Homagama temporarily. It was also
revealed that he had been working as a sound director and a lighting
assistant and had stolen goods even at his working places. All these
robberies were conducted during the day.
The suspect had admitted that he used to take drugs worth about Rs
4,000 daily. The suspect had been bailed several times earlier after
being imprisoned. The suspect had robbed a haul of equipment and items
including eight laptops, four Amplifiers, a bicycle, a brass lamp, five
mobile phones and a gas cylinder by building personal acquaintances with
people.
He had engaged in robberies in Gampaha, Kollupitiya, Welikada,
Koswatta, Dehiwala, Mount Lavinia, Katunayake, Wellawatte and Mirihana.
