Table tennis to the fore

'Table tennis is fast becoming popular in Sri Lanka,' says Chandana Perera, the secretary of the Sri Lanka Table tennis association. In recent weeks the national table tennis team competed at the Commonwealth Games.

Fifteen year old Nuwani Navodya is the national star paddler from Ambalangoda in our National team that comprises of three men and three women players.

'This up and coming, speed and alertness game should be compulsory in all schools,' says Chandana Perera.

He also said 'Sri Lanka hosted the European Team for a Training Camp at the end of October prior to the ITTF Cadet Challenge in the Indian city of Hyderabad.'

At the moment Chandana is in Jaffna planning a tournament as a forerunner to the Nationals that will be held at the Otters Aquatic Club from from January 4, 2011.

The game is easy enough to play and skill levels can easily be polished as we wait to see the country's best paddlers in action at the beginning of next year.
