Law traps 235 pickpockets

Six men directing pickpockets and another 229 members were arrested in Colombo during the current festive season. This is the first time that such a large number of criminals involved in pickpocketing in Colombo were arrested in a short period, Police said.

A suspect wanted for stealing five brand new motor cycles worth Rs 561,000 was arrested at Narammala on Sunday. The suspect Colabage Priyadarsana Fernando, 24, of Halwala had committed several previous robberies in the North Western Province, OIC Sujeewa Walpola said.
