Over 50 percent growth in 2011

The boat building industry in Sri Lanka is showing signs of being one of the dominant sectors to develop the country’s economy. The industry is predicted to record 50 percent growth in 2011.

The next tranche of the US $ 2.6 billion International Monetary Fund (IMF) standby agreement (SBA) will be disbursed in early next year as the IMF staff mission will present their report on January 26, the Central Bank Deputy Governor, Dharma Dheerasinghe told Daily News Business.

CIC keen on increasing milk production

CIC Agri Businesses Managing Director and CEO Keerth B Kotagama said CIC is keen on enhancing liquid milk consumption and increasing the milk production in the country. He said with the acquisition of CIC Mahaweli Livestock and Dairies (Pvt) Ltd in the Eastern province last year, the company is producing 5,000 litres of fresh milk per day.
