Plan to speed up milk production

The Southern Provincial Agriculture and Animal Production Ministry has implemented a three year plan to speed up the milk production in the Southern region, Provincial Minister Wijeya S Weerasinghe said.

It has decided under the plan to grant financial assistance for the improvement of animal husbandry farms at Telijjawila and Kekanadura in Matara and also the Labuduwa farm in the Galle District.

In addition steps will also be taken by the Ministry to expand fodder grass cultivation and also to provide high quality milch cows to dairy farmers. The program for the setting up of dairy farmer villages in the South under the plan, the Provincial Minister said.
