A father of five who climbed a pinus tree in Horana to cut several branches to put up a Christmas tree in his house at Marakkalawatta, Beruwala on Christmas eve died of electrocution when a felled branch he collected touched a live overhead electricity cable without his knowledge.

The deceased was identified as L A Claude Janakalal Andradi, 43. Police are investigating.
