Hutch goes mega with Megapack

Hutch last week launched a new prepaid package, titled Mega Pack. Hutch CEO Shankar Bali recalled how Hutch, over the years, has changed the way people look at IDD, by introducing competitive packages and Megapack, he said will take this trend further. "Hutch Megapack is more than just a new tariff package. It's a trend setter. The sheer scale of its enormity, in terms of value addition and customer satisfaction alone will create new waves in the market," he said.

Megapack was the result of extensive research into customer preferences and usage patterns. "We wanted to give our customers a package that exactly suited their needs. And that is how we arrived at the Rs 22 figure and concluded that a 'mega' package which allows our customers to enjoy free IDD, among other facilities, at this easy rate would be a surefire hit," a company spokesman said.

For the first time in Sri Lanka, under the Megapack deal, Hutch is offering its customers the chance to stay connected to the internet - on the go - at 20 cents per megabyte (MB). For 22 rupees, a Hutch customer can enjoy calls of five minutes Hutch to Hutch, five minutes of Hutch to any other network, five SMSs to any network with five minutes of IDD call-time free. Customers can also enjoy internet at 20 cents per MB for a period of seven days - inclusive of all taxes.

And for the Rs 70, 135 and 270 Hutch Megapack (inclusive of all taxes), the call minutes and text messages allowed will go up to 15, 30 and 60 respectively, for a corresponding number of days. According to Hutchison's Acquisition and International Business Head, Saumitra Gupta, the benefits introduced to customers by Megapack are truly unmatched and unrivalled and will undoubtedly create a big impact in the local telecom sector.

Gupta said that the Hutch Megapack, while adding greater value to Hutch customers, will work towards breaking what he calls the "telecommunication barrier" due to high call rates, especially when it come to IDD.
