Navy ruggerites and soccerites off to Korea
Sri Lanka Navy rugby and football teams left the island for Korea to
play friendly matches against Korean Naval teams and matches clubs. This
tour was organized on the invitation of the South Korean Navy.
The Navy rugby team did well to be the runners-up in the Clifford Cup
Knock out Tournament after a period of 22 years and were placed as the
second runner-up in the Caltex Trophy League Tournament.
Meanwhile the football team Sri Lanka Navy won the Holcim FA Cup 2010
and the Defence Services Soccer Championship 2010. The Rugby team is led
by Yoshitha Rajapaksa while the football team is skippered by HMA
Kumara. Officials for the tour Chairman Rugby SLN NKD Nanayakkara, Coach
