Top rugby playing nations vie for Carlton Cup

The second annual Carlton International Sevens tournament is scheduled to to be conducted at the Sugathadasa Stadium on November 27 and 28 for the prestigious Carlton Cup. This International Rugby sevens is organized by the ‘Tharunyata Hetak Organization’s Sports Wing for the second successive year.

A total of 24 wickets tumbled on a dramatic opening day’s play as bowlers dominated proceedings while setting the tone for an exciting finish in the inter-school under 19 cricket encounter between Lumbini MV and Richmond College, Galle which began at the Colts CC ground in Havelock Park yesterday.

Royal in command

Royal College, Colombo is sitting pretty at the end of day one against Moratu Vidyalaya in their inter-school under 19 cricket match at Moratuwa. Royalists batting first scored 243 runs with Supun Subasinghe missing a well-deserved century by seven runs. He faced 178 balls and occupied the crease for 245 minutes and hitting eight fours and associated a fourth wicket partnership of 82 runs with Imal Liyanage who made 46 runs. Janidu Devinda took 5 for 70.
