Karate tournament on Nov 6

The 12th Shin Kyokushin Karate - (open) tournament will be held at the Anuradhapura Public Indoor Stadium on November 6. The North Central Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake will be the chief guest. Deputy Minister of Post and Telecommunication Duminda Dissanayake and Parliamentarian Shehan Semrasinghe will be the Guests of honour.

The 'Rajarata Iron man,' Wasantha Soysa the Guinness world record holder who is also the chief karate instructor of the Shin Kyokushin Association told Daily News that the society Sri Lanka Chief representative Shihan Piyaratne Muthukumarana will attempt to establish a world record and be the first oldest person to allow a heavy vehicle to run over his stomach for the 41st time in his life. Muthukumarana is now 64 years.

Also Wasantha will attempt to establish another world record by smashing of ice cubes each 4 feet in length and 6 inches in thickness with one head stroke at the Shin Kyokushin Society's 12th Tournament.
