Bowlers call the tune at Havelock Park

A total of 24 wickets tumbled on a dramatic opening day’s play as
bowlers dominated proceedings while setting the tone for an exciting
finish in the inter-school under 19 cricket encounter between Lumbini MV
and Richmond College, Galle which began at the Colts CC ground in
Havelock Park yesterday.
Lumbini MV after been bowled out for 125 runs hit back strongly to
skittle out their opponents for a mere 80 runs with left arm spinner
Prabath Jayasuriya returning outstanding figures of seven wickets for
30.
However Lumbini MV struggled once again in their second innings too
and finished on 61 for 4 with an overall lead of 106 runs. Dananjaya de
Silva added three more wickets to his tally following his magnificent
eight wicket haul in the first innings.

Rosco - Joes hero
A fine all round performance from Rosco Thatil helped St. Joseph’s
College beat Kalutara MV outright by ten wickets in their inter school
under 19 cricket match which concluded at Darley Road yesterday. The
right arm off spinner captured five wickets for 63 to dismiss Kalutara
MV for 106 runs in their second innings having earlier hit a fighting
half century that helped the home side take a good first innings lead.

St. Joseph’s: 186 (K. Bernardus 23, R. Thatil 50, N. Perera 42, C.

Easy for Ananda
Ananda College cruised to their third outright victory this season
while overcoming St. Sylvester’s College Kandy by seven wickets in their
inter school under 19 cricket match at Ananda Mawatha yesterday.
Spinners Pasindu Madushan and Sachithra Perera did most of the damage
in the second innings while sharing seven wickets between them leaving
Ananda an easy victory target at the end.

Jason fine century
Elegant opening batsman Jason Perera hit an unbeaten 104 with two
sixes and 18 boundaries to put St. Benedict’s College in a strong
position on the opening day of their inter school under 19 cricket
tournament match against Zahira College which began at Maradana
yesterday.
