The Elamaldeniya Raja Maha Viharaya in the Mulatiyana reserve forest is being developed under the Government’s sacred area development program.

This rock temple was established by King Saddhatissa and extends to 30 acres consisting of a Vihara Mandiraya, Chethiya, Sanghawansa Bodhi tree with Bodhi Prakaraya, Dharmasala and Devala of Gods Vishnu and Kataragama.

Under the development program, sanitary facilities and steps to climb the hilly side to reach the temple had been completed.

A Dathu Mandiraya is also being constructed while work on a Dharmasala has already been completed with help from philanthropists, Viharadhipathi Ven Elamaldeniye Upananda Thera said.
