Technology, backbone of economy

Technology is the backbone of the economy, Youth Affairs Minister Dallus Alahapperuma said addressing the 21 National Diploma in Engineering Sciences Awards Ceremony held at the BMICH yesterday.

Sri Lanka is within the topmost country in most ways such as education, health and many more. It scores top most grades. But since the country is behind in technology, it is still behind in economic development the Minister said.

Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission Chairman Dayantha Wijeyesekera was the guest of honour. Youth Affairs Ministry Secretory H A S Hevapathirane, NAITA Vice Chairman Wijaya Wickramarathne and IET Director and Chairman H D D Karunarathne were also present.
