CIMA Technical Symposium:

Prof Al Bhimani to deliver keynote address

London School of Economics Accounting Department Head and Management Accounting Professor Al Bhimani will deliver the keynote on 'Informational, technological and global forces of change: the impact on management accounting' at the CIMA Technical Symposium to be held at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel on November 24.

Professor Bhimani is the author of many publications which have been symbolic in revolutionizing the science of management accounting to cater to increasing complexity of business and advancements in technology. These publications include Management accounting in the digital economy and Strategic Finance. Professor Bhimani has presented his findings to global academic and corporate bodies on accounting and management control, and his publications are renowned to initiate increased productivity through innovation in management accounting.

The transformational aspect of the internet and dotcom crashes now necessitate changes in the finance function addressing tighter corporate governance regulatory requirements and more comprehensive risk management practises.

The global business environment has been vehemently transformed through more proactive and resourceful competition, the aftermath of a global recession leading to increased government regulation and intervention in economic activities paving the way for transformation of management accounting and finance management practises. Professor Al Bhimani's keynote address will examine these crucial changes and how it impacts the management accounting profession.

'Transformation: the compulsory choice' is the topical theme of this year's symposium and will focus on timely and vital areas such as the impact of globalization and technological on management accounting, ethics and sustainability, innovative decision-making, business and supply chain agility, finance transformation and leading a knowledge workforce; and the deliberations will be made by eminent local and foreign speakers.
