Forty one teams for Mercantile Rugby Sevens

The Mercantile Rugby Sevens for the 40th year will go ahead with the tournament as scheduled on October 29, 30 and 31, said Nishantha Wickremage President of Mercantile Rugby Football Association.

The Mercantile Rugby Football Association request the captain or the manager of the respective team taking part to be present for the tournament draw which will be held at the CR and FC pavillion on October 26 at 6.00 p.m.

Forty one teams have already confirmed their participation revealed an official of MRFA.

Notable absentees for this years tournament was the last year cup champs Emjay International from Kandy citing injuries and the runners-up John Keells are favourite for this year’s cup championship. Dialog SC is also in the cup category.

Access who were cup champs in 2000 who are coming back after a lay off of six years and it will be more interesting this year as 41 teams have confirmed their participation, said an official of MRFA.
