Lankan Army best in the world - Prelate

The Sri Lanka Army that eliminated the world’s most ruthless terrorist outfit is the best Army in the world, said Ven Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thera Anunayaka of Malwatta Chapter recently.

Delivering an anusasana at an alms giving at Dalada Maligawa representing all Army Headquarters islandwide to mark the 61st anniversary of the Army, the Prelate said that using the 61st anniversary to bestow merits on war heroes who died at the war front and invoke blessings on the disabled soldiers is exemplary to the entire world.

Speaking at the function Maj Gen M Perera said that the upright leadership which gave encouragement and strength led the forces to victory. A program to renovate religious places belonging to different religions including Dalada Maligawa was conducted to coincide with the religious program. Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa, Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake and many others participated in the alms giving.
