Army clinch Malay CC cricket sixes
Sri Lanka Army Sports Club clinched the Malay Cricket Club six-a-side
title when they defeated Tamil Union in the final worked off at the
Padang in Slave Island yesterday.
Tamil Union with players of the calibre of Isuru Udana, Suranga
Lakmal and Gihan Rupasinghe in their ranks hit up 63 for 4 from their
five overs.
Army then reached the target with one over to spare with all-rounder
Ajantha Mendis making a top score of 29. In the semi-finals Tamil Union
edged out Malay CC by one wicket with one ball to spare and Sri Lanka
Army SC had the better of Sri Lanka Navy Sports Club in the other
semi-final. All matches were officiated by Asoka de Silva and Ranmore
Martinesz. |
