Nepal celebrates Int’l Peace Day
NEPAL: The International Day of Peace- 2010 was celebrated in Nepal
with the theme of “Peace and Constitution, Our Future” Tuesday.
In the same context, the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction
organized a press meeting and gave out information about the works
executed for the management of conflict and peace building after the
signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in 2006.
According to Ministry Secretary Dhruba Prasad Sharma, 570.4 million
Nepali rupees (some 7.7 million US dollars) was spent in construction of
infrastructures at the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist)
cantonments and to provide health service to the Maoist combatants
living in such camps in fiscal year 2009/ 2010. Moreover, 1.65 billion
rupees has been spent on the construction of physical infrastructures
and reconstruction.
