Sakvithi Ranasinghe case:

Court tells CID: File complaint against IP

Nugegoda Magistrate and Additional District Judge Rohana Kumara Herath ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to file a complaint to Court against the suspect Police Inspector who is alleged to have attempted to take part of the property at the business premises of Sakvithi Ranasinghe after he fled the country.

It was revealed that the suspect B L Eric Pushpakumara had been working at the Communication Centre of the Mirihana Police.

Mirihana Police had at the outset informed Court that Pushpakumara had been attempting to remove a washing machine and several furniture from Sakvithi Ranasinghe’s business premises using a lorry owned by a Tilak Premalal Perera when the Police took that movable property into custody.

CID Chief Inspector Neranjan Abeywardena told Court that investigation extracts in this connection have been forwarded to the Attorney-General on June 25, 2010.
