Death of TM Sanghadasa:

Great loss to Lankan cinema- SJIBFO

The Sambuddhathwa Jayanthi International Buddhist Film Organizations (SJIBFO) in a condolence message for TM Sanghadasa states. It is with a deep sense of loss, that we express our heart-felt condolences at the passing away of cinema-expert T.M.Sanghadasa.

The message adds he was closely associated with the International Buddhist Film Festivals, we held in 2009 and 2010. At the time of his death, he was fully immersed in the preliminary work leading to the International Buddhist Film Festival in 2011, that will mark the 2,600th anniversary of the Attainment of Enlightenment by Ascetic Siddhartha.

Late T.M.Sanghadasa's memory, regarding issues relating to cinema was nothing short of phenomenal. His enthusiasm for things cinematic, was legendary. He was intimate with the film-fraternity with a surprising cordiality, earning a deep affection in return from all those who were associated with cinema. Sri Lanka's cinema landscape, has lost and impressive human land mark. In whatever we did, in the field of cinema his presence will continue to be felt. We wish late T.M.Sanghadasa the eternal bliss of Nirvana.
