Four die in Anamaduwa bus crash

Four commuters died when a private bus crashed on to a tree in Anamaduwa yesterday morning.

The dead are N Aloysia Therese Perera, 30 and Mohamadu Nazeer 21, both of Pallimune, Mannar and Wellayappa Puamani, 37, and Perumal 65, of Grandpass.

The private bus bound to Colombo from Mannar veered off the road and hit against a tree around 4 a. m. near the 30 mile post at Mudalakkuliya in Anamaduwa.

Six commuters who suffered injuries were admitted to the Anamaduwa hospital. Three, whose condition was serious were transferred to the Kurunegala General Hospital.

According to Police the bus veered off the road hitting against a Magosa tree skidded on to the other side and collided against a light post.

Police said the commuters most probably may be the residents of Mannar.

Anamaduwa Police are investigating.
