Baghdad twin attacks kill 29, injure 111

Iraq: At least 29 people died and 111 were injured Sunday when two car bombs exploded in different parts of the Capital, where security measures were being reinforced.

The second explosion took place very early Sunday at Aden square in northern Baghdad, where the highest number of victims was reported, according to a police report quoted by Press TV satellite television.

Another car bomb was apparently activated by remote control in the Al-Mansour residential district in western Baghdad.

An official from the Iraqi Interior Ministry had reported that the first attack occurred outside a restaurant in Al-Liqa square in the western district of Al-Mansour, leaving at least seven dead and 22 injured.

The second explosion in the Kazimiya area (Aden) killed nine and injured at least 36, while a series of explosions were heard in different parts of Baghdad, including the busy Bab Al-Muadam neighborhood.

Security sources told the local news agency Aswat Al-Iraq that three mortars hit the Baghdad Green Zone Sunday, but no victims or damages were reported. Baghdad, Prensa Latina
