Athletes return with Gold

Sri Lankan athletes who won two gold medals and a silver medal at the 72nd Singapore Open Track and Field Championship, returned to the island yesterday evening.

D A S Samanmalee won the Gold Medal in the women’s 1500m event with a time of 4 minutes 32.00 seconds and S A Lakmal Anuruddha won the Gold in the Men’s 400m finishing in 48.5 seconds.

The third medal came for Sri Lanka when M P D A S Pathirana was placed second in the 200m events with a time of 21.90 seconds. The championship was held at the Bukit Gombak Stadium in Singapore and was organized by the Singapore Athletic Association.
