WRAP certification:

South Asia Textiles awarded

South Asia Textiles Industries Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., a leading fabric manufacturer in Sri Lanka received the prestigious Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) certification with their compliance to the 12 WRAP principles recently.

WRAP is a voluntary social compliance program focusing mainly on the apparel, footwear and sewn products sectors, and is the world’s largest facility certification program. Facilities receive a certification of six months to one year based on compliance with the 12 WRAP principles.

The WRAP principles are derived from generally accepted international workplace standards, local laws and workplace regulations which encompass human resources management, health and safety, environmental practices, and legal compliance including import/export and customs compliance and security standards.

South Asia Textiles Industries Lanka was set up in April 2004 by South Asia Textiles of Singapore under the auspices of the Board of Investment at the 76 acre site of former state-owned Pugoda Textile Mills in Pugoda.

SATL manufactures weft knitted fabrics and engages in knitting, dyeing, finishing, printing, brushing, and sueding of fabrics for the local as well as international markets. The company employs a work force of 650 people in a state-of-the-art factory equipped with the latest manufacturing technology.

South Asia Textile Industries Lanka (SATL) is an ultra modern manufacturing plant producing exceptional quality knitted fabric for a wide range of apparel and industrial uses. The company was established in April 2004 as a Board of Investment company, with a 15 million dollar investment from South Asia Textile Industries Pte Ltd, Singapore a pioneer in the fabric manufacturing industry in Singapore for over 25 years.

SATL moved in to the dilapidated and abandoned premises of the former Pugoda Textile Mills and transformed it into a sprawling state-of-the-art complex within the 76-Acre compound.

Recently acquired by Environmental Resources Investment PLC, The Board of Directors of SATL are involved closely in the strategic planning and corporate governance of the company and are being supported by a dedicated team of professionals who are all specialists in their various disciplines.
