Suspect arrested in Pettah confesses to crime

The main suspect in the Eppawela quadruple murder has confessed to Police that he was forced into the crime since he was ill-treated by the victims. He also told police that he had thrown the axe used in the murder into the Nuwara Wewa while the key of the house was dropped into the well.

Responsibilities not ended with war

Responsibilities vested with the Army on behalf of the motherland do not come to an end with the great victory achieved in the humanitarian operations. ‘History’ thieves top 500

Over 516 incidents of archaeological thefts have been reported from 2008 to this year while the Archaeological Department has earned over Rs. 530,000 from fines imposed on offenders. A special unit was set up by the Archaeological Department together with the Police Department to safeguard heritage sites and prevent vandalizing archaeological sites.
