Suspect arrested in Pettah confesses to crime

The main suspect in the Eppawela quadruple murder has confessed to Police that he was forced into the crime since he was ill-treated by the victims. He also told police that he had thrown the axe used in the murder into the Nuwara Wewa while the key of the house was dropped into the well.

However police suspect that the main suspect had raped the young girl who was one of the victims and had subsequently killed her brother who had witnessed the act.

The suspect was arrested Saturday in Pettah.

He had been an inmate of the home where the murders were committed. The victims are K.P. Dayaratne (48), Malini Jayasinghe (42), Achini Udeshika (14) and Nishan Dilhara.
